What's Up Wednesday: April 2017

Woo-hoo it's What's Up Wednesday!
This post is part of a link up done with Shay, Mel and Sheaffer.

I have nothing earth shattering to share here. We're eating the same 'ol same 'ol. Spaghetti, meatloaf, Zaxby's, leftovers, cereal, whatever. Planning to do better in the kitchen come summertime.

Our very nice Spring Break...
..and the Wild Adventure we had!

All this beautiful sunshine!!

It's April in the big GA so let the pool time commence! Just as I suspected, Bo is just as enamored with the pool and extra outside time this year as he was last year.
And of course, we are always making time for our Ella B. Those two lovies actually went and stood where we asked them to when we told them we wanted a picture. However, this is as close as they would get to one another. One baby step at a time.

Not one thing.

End of the year odds and ends!
4 Mondays stand between me and summer break.

You'll have to keep reading to see this answer. :)

So, I finally got around to reading this book and HOLY GUACAMOLE it was so good; everybody was right in their review! Love love love it. The only reason I didn't finish it the day I started was because I had to do things like go to work and be a mom. I actually woke up early to finish reading. I'm now a committed Colleen Hoover fan and have ordered Hopeless to dive into this weekend. I'd love some more recommendations!

Still loving this podcast! Lots of answers, but still lots of questions. I can't wait to see how Payne wraps this all up. If that can be done.
And to fill up the time in between new UAV podcasts, I've started listening to Serial. I realize this one is from 2014 but I'm just getting on the podcast train and this one was recommended by a lot of people. I swear I'm not all dark and twisty, reading The Girl on the Train made my stomach hurt, but these stories just have me hooked!

I'm on the hunt for a bathing suit. Hoping this weekend I fix this problem.

This girl and I are headed to the beach and it is LOONNNGG overdue. I can't wait to sleep so hard I wake up with sheet lines on my face and eat a meal while breathing between each bite. Also, BEACH!!

Summer Break!
Wweellll, I got a NEW JOB!! I am SO pumped! I love my current job (teaching Pre-K) and am so very grateful that my boss hired me straight out of school. However, I have been praying for a job in the local system for a while now and it is finally happening! God's timing is perfect and I can't wait to see what is in store in this next chapter for me.

Have a Happy Hump Day!

Right Now

Right now, Bo sleeps in our bed.
We had a great night time routine that worked well for him and us. And then he got sick. And one or two nights in our bed started turning into four. And then he started asking for mommy's bed. He'd start off in his bed, and then wake up in the middle of the night, crying for me. And then he fought his bed with every fiber of his being.
So, right now, Bo sleeps in our bed.
And I kinda love it. I love laying down at night with him snuggled safely there. I love the way he looks so peaceful. I love the way he reaches for me in his sleep.
How he somehow finds my hand. Sometimes, my face.
Right now, Bo's vocabulary is in full bloom.
Every day he seems to say more and more. "Wook, Mommy, Wook," is a favorite. Also, "Mommy I hide!" He plays with his stuffed animals and little toys as if they are real. Making the noises they should, having the mama chick 'kiss,' the baby. He'll bring me his chicken or Mickey and say, "Rock Rock, Mommy." Or he'll hold it close and saw, "Aww, baby," and pat it as gently as he can.
And while all of that is so sweet, right now, he is such a boy.
Everything is a pow-pow, everything is a race. Everything is sometimes a challenge. Changing his diaper. Washing his hair. Getting him to eat. Opening the refrigerator still has to be done very strategically. If he lays an eye on some yogurt or cheese it's ballgame. Walking inside is a fine art as well, "outsigh," is much more appealing. And I get it, I do. But you can't avoid going inside at dark. Or when mommy has to potty. Or cook. Thankfully this spring time weather has given us ample opportunity for supper outside. Less mess and a happy baby.
Right now, Bo is a mama's boy. (Well, he's always been that.) 9 times out of 10, I'm his first choice for everything. "Mommy hold," doesn't get old. Except sometimes. Sometimes, Mommy can't "hold," while washing her hair. Or doing her make-up. Or driving. Bo has to wait, and Bo is not very good at that.
Right now, Bo says, "G stop!" every time he gets aggravated with something. A ball he can't reach. A blanket he can't pull out of the basket. A cup stuck in his bag. I guess my brother has aggravated him so much that every time something doesn't go his way, he thinks his Uncle G is behind it. If the aggravation level reaches maximum capacity hair pulling will ensue, as well.
Right now, Bo calls Charlie, our dog, 'Amos.' (Pronounced A-mith.) We did have a dog named Amos, but Amos has sadly been gone for a month now. And before Amos was gone, Bo would say 'Arlie and A-mith.' I keep telling him that it's Charlie, but he keeps calling him Amos.
Right now, Bo loves eggs. And not just the Easter kind. When he sees the egg carton in the fridge, he wants to see the eggs inside. He loves to collect chicken eggs with Colby and to look in all the nests, so I guess that's where the infatuation stems from. He did LOVE finding eggs on Easter. So much so that it was a slight problem because we could only hide so many. Once he found them all he would ask for more. And he was way to smart to let us steal them from his bucket for a re-hide.

Right now, Bo doesn't like to walk barefoot in the yard. He thinks everything he steps on is ants (pronounced aints). Even when we are inside and he steps on something that sticks to his foot, he starts fussing and says, "Ants, mommy. Ants." He got bitten by an ant once earlier this year, so now we are dealing with ant bite hallucinations.
Right now, Bo loves to potty. But not in the potty. He'd prefer the tub, the floor, outside, or a person. He tries to potty so much sometimes that he ends up potty-ing more than he expected. Which he then also loves and screams, "POOP!" I know potty training is coming, but right now, can I just enjoy the easiness of diapers? I have a feeling I'm going to see the inside of every bathroom in a 60 mile radius of our house when the time comes. He just likes to potty so much.
Right now, I'm trying to soak in everything about him. All the cute things he says and the cute ways he says them. All his loves and all his hates. I want to have it etched in memory so that when 'Right Now,' turns into 'Remember When,' I'll have plenty to say.

Easter 2017!

Easter 2017 is in the books & I can't believe it! Some bunny wasn't excited about pictures, but he was happy about finding eggs.
Toddlers on the move are THE hardest to photograph. HOLY GEEZ. I did manage this one. Also, big shout out to my grandma for the assist on Bo's Easter outfit. Somehow, I managed to wait until the week before to decide it was time to find something for him to where. Maw-Maw came to the rescue with a 24 mos jon-jon, so we were living on a prayer, but it worked!
We had to look for the kitty in between takes to avoid melt down central. And why does he look so big here?!
My family on Easter. I don't know why it's so hard for boys to smile for pictures.
Colby's family. Colby's not in pain.
After lunch and a little rest, we met up with the Hutcheson fam for an egg hunt and supper.
Tucker is always good to have around.
Bo preferred to use his new sand bucket rather than his Easter basket to collect eggs.
This boy was an egg finding pro! He would carry his bucket ever so carefully while running so he wouldn't spill his eggs. He was also VERY protective of those eggs. We'd try to sneak an egg or two out to hide them again and he wasn't having it.
Ella B found eggs and would run to put them in Bo's bucket. She's always taking care of him.
After all the eggs had been found, Bo wanted to hide the eggs himself.
All in the same place. :)
Ella B had 0 interest in his shenanigans and found an ant to study.
Courtney said we needed a family picture just for kicks. So we went for it.
These pictures will always be a favorite.
After the pictures, the sprinklers came on and this quickly became the best part of the day.
Well, not for sweet EllBell. She just wanted to run around and NOT get wet.
However, this boy was ALL about it!
He stopped long enough for some Coke from Maw-Maw and then was back at it.
This day was one of those perfect ones.
A special Easter morning and church service (that Bo fell asleep during; score!!) family time, perfect weather, and happy babies. It was hard to leave when it was time, because none of us wanted it to be over.
We're coming for ya, Summer 2k17!

Friday Favorites: Easter Edition

Happy Good Friday to you! I love Fridays, but I really love Fridays before special days like Easter.
Easter brings so much hope.
On my 14th Easter, I made the best decision of my life, and gave my heart to Jesus. And while I love the 'American,' traditions of Easter, I love being in church on Easter morning the very most.
Praying. Hoping. Rejoicing.
So, while this post contains my favorite 'things,' to fill an Easter basket with this year, I want each of you to know that my most favorite thing (every day of the year!) will not fit in an Easter basket. Or a tomb.
I should start by saying that I don't use the traditional Easter candy, books, eggs, etc to fill Bo's Easter basket. I like to use this opportunity to buy some junk that he will actually need and use for a little while.
I actually squealed when I found this gem on Amazon. I don't know why, but I love a flag bathing suit for a little boy. #Merica
Bathing suits will always be in my kid's Easter baskets.

Before there was Bo, I babysat a little boy who had a pool toy similar to this, and he, as well as all the other 2-3 year olds at the pool, LOVED it. So I knew Bo would need one too. Bonus: It comes in a set of two, so he and Ella B won't be fighting over one all summer. :)
Beach towels go hand in hand with the bathing suit rule.

Bo is really into puzzles right now, so this was a no brainer.

Bo also really enjoys looking at books, so I use every excuse I have to buy him a new one. I try to stay away from buying seasonal books, because I just have a thing about reading a Christmas book in July. Can't do it. I thought this one was still Easter-ish without being too Eastery. It's also a board book so it will withstand the trauma from his little hands of terror.
Bo is on the verge of potty training, and this is cute. He's really into peeing wherever right now, so I'm hoping he'll like the whole aim thing. We shall see!

That pretty much wraps it up! I also bought a new DVD for the car and I'm thinking that will be the only thing that actually fits in his Easter basket. I'm probably going to stuff everything else in the urinal. Ha!
And in the spirit of Easter; a look at last year...

Happy Easter, everybody!
